Playing is how all of us learned first. We don't think that ever needed to stop.
A child learns to count on a game board, and learns the map by hunting for a flag. It sticks because nobody called it a lesson. Every chalkolate game starts from there: one small, real thing, wrapped in something worth playing for five minutes.
chalkolate is a collective effort — people who care about making learning fun, building it one small game at a time. Nothing here sits behind a login or a paywall, and nothing is trying to sell you anything.
What's here today
Free, in the browser, on a phone, a tablet or a laptop.
Games
Traffic lights, world maps, dice, mazes and bikes. Each game takes about five minutes and quietly practises one thing — counting, planning, patience, looking closely.
Flash cards
Cards that remember what you know — easy ones come back later, tricky ones come back soon. They start with the Tamil letters.
Grown-ups too.
Curiosity doesn't come with an age limit. chalkolate is growing to include adults: small, useful life skills, learned the same playful way.
Not to earn a certificate or a side income — just for the pleasure of knowing how something works, and being able to do it yourself. Learning for the sake of learning.
The kind of thing we mean
- Knowing every part of a bike — already here
- Tying a knot that holds
- Finding your way with a map
- Reading the night sky
- Cooking without a recipe
- A few words of a new language
The rules we keep
For every game and every card, whoever it's for.
Fun first, always
If it stops being a game it stops working. The learning rides along inside the play, never on top of it.
Small and real
One skill at a time, about five minutes a go. Long enough to get good at something, short enough to stop happily.
No sign-ups, no ads
Nothing to log into and nothing that nags. Scores and flash-card progress stay on your own device.
Come and play.
Pick a game or turn over a card. It takes five minutes, and there's nothing to install.
