left turns anticlockwise, right turns clockwise. The number is degrees: left(90) is a quarter turn.

The hints show where forward, left(90) and right(90) go from where the turtle is, and which way it's facing.
🔁
for i in range(4): repeats the lines under it — start them with 4 spaces.

Something wrong? The line turns red and we tell you how to fix it.

Turtle commands

These are Python's real turtle commands — the same ones work in Python on any computer.

Move: forward(100) backward(50) goto(x, y) setx(x) sety(y) home() circle(50) circle(50, 180)
Turn: left(90) right(45) setheading(90) — 0 is right, 90 up, 180 left, 270 down
Pen: penup() pendown() pensize(5) color("red") color("red", "gold") — line, then fill
Draw: begin_fill() … end_fill() dot(20, "blue") stamp() write("Hi") clear()
Turtle: shape("turtle") shapesize(2) hideturtle() speed(10) Turtle() for another one
Screen: bgcolor("black") tracer(0)
Ask: pos() xcor() ycor() heading() distance(0, 0)
Python: for while if def print() lists, and import random, math or time

What this grows

Real Python, from the very first line. Turning the turtle is angles you can see, and a loop that draws a square is the first taste of how programs repeat.
